Austins has been part of the Cirencester area for more than 90 years, growing from its traditional roots in fuel and country supplies into the wide-ranging local store and specialist home-comfort businesses found at Love Lane today.
Our Story
The Austins story began in Coates in 1932. The business moved into Cirencester in 1977 before relocating to its present home on Love Lane in 1984.
In 2000, the business was purchased by another local Cirencester family, who continued to develop and expand Austins while retaining the independent and practical character that had made it a familiar local name.
Today, the company is run by third-generation brothers, continuing a family involvement which now spans several generations.
From solid fuel deliveries to modern heating, cooling, garden and household supplies, Austins has continued to evolve with the needs of its local customers.
From Solid Fuel to Modern, Efficient Heating
Fuel and heating have always been an important part of Austins. While we continue to supply Ready to Burn firewood, smokeless fuels, heat logs and pellets, the business has also expanded into modern, highly efficient woodburning, multifuel and pellet stoves.
Our specialist sister business, The Stove Store Cirencester, is based alongside Austins on Love Lane and supplies a carefully selected range of quality stoves, with a particular emphasis on established British and Scandinavian manufacturers.
The Stove Store offers a complete HETAS stove installation service, from initial advice and surveys through to fireplace preparation, hearths, flue systems, stove installation and final commissioning.
Customers can also visit the Cirencester showroom to see a wide range of contemporary and traditional stoves, including models on live display.
Air Conditioning for Modern Homes
The business has continued to expand into other areas of home comfort with professional air conditioning installation throughout Cirencester and the Cotswolds.
Through Cirencester AirCon, the team installs modern split air conditioning systems for bedrooms, home offices, garden rooms, lounges, conservatories and other living spaces.
Systems are installed, pressure tested, evacuated and commissioned by F-Gas certified engineers, providing effective cooling during hot summer weather while many modern systems can also provide efficient heating during cooler months.

Gilo’s – Our On-Site Café & Outside Catering
Love Lane is also home to Gilo’s, the independent café and restaurant based on site at Austins.
Gilo’s began during 2020 with its distinctive Car-B-Q, taking freshly prepared burgers, pitas and street food out to customers before developing into the restaurant you can visit at Austins today.
Alongside the café and restaurant, Gilo’s also offers outside catering for weddings, private parties, corporate events and other occasions, taking its food on the road with its dedicated catering van and distinctive catering bus.
With freshly prepared breakfasts and lunches, plenty of parking and a strong local following, Gilo’s makes Austins a convenient place to stop for something to eat while visiting the store or The Stove Store.
Part of the Cirencester Community
Being a local business has always meant more than simply having a shop in Cirencester.
One story from the company’s past sums that up particularly well. During a severe winter, an elderly customer in Winson near Bibury was running dangerously low on coal after snow had left the roads impassable.
With the normal delivery lorry unable to reach her, the team swapped it for a JCB and delivered the coal in its front bucket. The unusual delivery even earned Austins an appearance in the local newspaper.
That practical, local approach remains an important part of the business today.

Although the products and services have changed considerably since the business began in 1932, Austins remains an independent, family-run Cirencester business serving customers throughout the town and surrounding Cotswolds.
